12 cu. in. handy box is a non-metallic switch and outlet box. Unlike metal boxes, the PVC handy box comes with two integral cable clamps that hold non-metallic cable firmly in place. The handy box comes with six knock-outs on the sides and back for easier wiring and a variety of mounting options.

I've used so many of these boxes I should buy stock. They are great for outdoor weather installations, Have used for HV outhets, access control readers, security cameras and the list goes on. Have also put these at the end or an extension cord. Use a metal cover plate, and a foam iseal (can be bought together). Cameras can be mounted to a metal F-connector plate with foam insulator. Use the right fittings and no weather will get into the box.

Cable Clamps on Carlon Gray Plastic Handy Boxes.

I see a lot of problems with these boxes regarding the built-in cable clamps on the Internet. Carlon says to push the type NM cable through the (sloped) cable clamps. The clamps inside have a little ridge or lip at the bottom. You push the cable through from the INSIDE of the box, not the outside. It helps to break the 'clamp flap; loose from the outside but the cable will never go through from the outside without additional help.
