Vintage 1950's Gibson Consolette Double Neck Steel Guitar
This is a mid 1950's Gibson Korina double-neck console steel in fair condition.
Twice the size of a lap steel but with no pedals to affect the pitch.
This was a fixture in country music of the late 40's and early 50's, and you can hear the distinctive sound of the console steel played in Hank William's recordings by Don Helms.
Built by Gibson in Kalamazoo from 1952 to 1957.
The Consolette afforded the lap steel player double the options with its two eight string necks.
The electronics have been tested and do work, however there's some crackling when adjusting the knobs.
As pictured, the veneer on one side is coming apart, and there is a crack in the veneer on the other side.  These imperfections are only in the veneer.  The solid wood has not been affected by these veneer cracks.  There is crazing on the finish as pictured.
Because this instrument is a trade in, the history is unknown.
I am unsure of any modifications.  I do not want to disturb the integrity of this instrument.
It does come with the original case and original 4 legs.  A couple of the wood brackets that hold the legs inside the case are broken.  Both latches work.  As with any vintage case, there is wear.
